The main purpose of the Puerto Viejo Sanitary Sewerage is to improve the quality of life of the people living in and visiting Puerto Viejo, as well as the condition of the coral reef, by reducing the negative impact associated with the discharge of untreated wastewater into ditches, channels, and bodies of water in the community.
The project is in its final stage, with the start of construction of the secondary pumping stations in the Pan Dulce neighborhood and the discharge pipe in Playa Negra. The completion of the construction of the Treatment Plant is planned for the first quarter of 2022.
