Strengthening the resilience of public infrastructure is essential to reduce risks, protect communities, and advance toward more sustainable development.

Under the Government of Costa Rica’s Emergency Program for the Comprehensive and Resilient Reconstruction of Infrastructure (PROERI), UNOPS, with the technical support of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), developed a set of resilience criteria applied to the program’s projects to strengthen infrastructure response capacity to current and future threats.

As part of this process, a workshop was held bringing together key stakeholders from the public sector, international organizations, and entities of the United Nations System to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and reflect on lessons learned in integrating risk-informed approaches into public infrastructure.
